Analytics Deep Dive: Metrics That Actually Matter

Feb 27, 2026

The problem with “vanity metrics”

Likes and follower count are fine… but they don’t always translate into business. Especially in 2026, where reach can fluctuate and follower growth isn’t the whole story.

The metrics that tell you something real

If you want growth and leads, focus on:

  • Saves: useful content

  • Shares: relatable content

  • Watch time: strong Reels retention

  • Profile visits: rising intent

  • Link clicks / DMs: actual business interest

Track metrics based on your goal

If your goal is:

  • Awareness: reach + impressions

  • Engagement: saves + shares per post

  • Leads: profile visits → clicks → enquiries

  • Sales: conversions (if you can track)

A simple weekly reporting format

Keep it simple:

  • Top 3 posts + why they worked

  • Bottom 3 posts + what to change

  • One “content rule” for next week (example: “stronger hooks”)

What not to do

  • don’t panic after one bad week

  • don’t change everything at once

  • don’t measure a Reel’s success within 20 minutes of posting
